MARZETTE BONAR

When Jody Foster is catapulted into outer space, she's assaulted with a plethora of unusual sights. This video clip shows many of the VFX that I conceptualized of her interior ship (pod) warping and what she sees through it's walls.

 

Using a variety of traditional mediums, I created illustrations or storyboarded the action and also  produced Photoshop images for photo-real examples.

Originally, I built a matte painting of the Ice Planet with curvy, intricate Fractal land masses. It was to be used in a 3 sec. static shot with clouds drifting by. Later it needed to become a pan that included the 4 colored stars, so the matte painting was whisked away from my desk and became a 3D element.

 

With pressing deadlines, there  wasn't enough time for the studio to build the curved Fractal shapes, so straight lined cityscapes were used instead. See it in the clip and in the pic above... looks great!
